Why Do I Get Bladder Pain In The Mornings, Especially When Urine Is Highly Concentrated And Dark?

Question: I get bladder pain in the mornings, especially when my urine is highly concentrated and dark. My bladder usually feels better throughout the day, though as someone who gets few potty breaks, I don't drink enough. I have taken those AZO tests, and they came back negative for bladder infection. I thought maybe I was just dehydrated (I would not be surprised if my symptoms were from staying mildly and chronically dehydrated), but I've found conflicting information. Some say dehydration can cause bladder pain, and some say dehydration doesn't cause bladder pain. Which is it?

Brief Answer:
Is this pain still ongoing? How much urine do you pass in the morning?

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

Dehydration or not doesn't cause bladder pain. With AZO tests being negative, you certainly have no urinary tract infection.

The most plausible explanation would be that you hold more urine volume overnight than usual which leads to bladder distention and pain in the early hours of the morning. I will recommend you try to empty the bladder before going to bed and as soon as you get the urge to see if this pain persists or not. It will certainly regress.

I hope this guides and helps. I wish you well. Feel free to keep me updated.
