Would Visible Follicles At Both Right And Left Ovaries In A Scan Be Diagnosed As Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome?
Question: I am 22 years of age and have just had a pelvis ultrasound to see if I have Polycystic ovaries and I am not sure exactly what the result is. The report says that the right and left ovaries measure 9.1cc and 11.2cc respectively. There are more than 25 follicies seen on either side. No free fluid is seen in the pouch of XXXXXXX Could you please advise if this is suggesting I have PCO and if so, should I be concerned and who should I now go to see about a possible treatment. I am really concerned that this now means that I may not be able to fall pregnant. Your help in this matter would be truly appreciated and look forward to receiving your response.

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,
I have gone through your question and understand the concerns.
The ultrasound report is suggestive of polycystic ovaries, as the number of follicles is more than 12 in a single ovary, with a volume of more than 8 cc. If possible please upload the reports.
To conceive, you should take proper treatment in the form of metformin, myo-inositol and do exercise and lifestyle modification.
Ovulation induction is the first Line drug therapy for treatment of infertility on patients with polycystic ovarian disease.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
