I Am 22 Weeks Pregnant With Twins And I Have

Question: I am 22 weeks pregnant with twins and I have constant numbness and outer thigh pain in my right leg, I've looked it up on Google and I think its Meralgia paraesthetica. I've consulted with my obgyn and she gave me a steroid shot that hasn't helped. She says my only other option is to wait until my twins are born and hopefully it goes away then. Ive tried seeing a chiropractor also, it hasnt helped any. Do I have any other options? Can I take gabapentin without hurting my babies?

Brief Answer:
twins with ? meralgia paraesthetica

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
thanks for the query to HCM,
tH FACT THAT YOU CARRY TWINS tend to make your weight gro at double the rate and also there is a shift of center of gravity anteriorly and there is a constant effort of body to correct oneself , increasing the strain over lower back and possibly causing compression over l4,5 and s1 nerve roots, causing yes, meralgia paraesthetica like symptoms.
The aim for relief would be to relieve stress on lower spine and for that you may opt to support your belly while walking or standing either with your hands or with a lower abdominal support belt which would relieve the stress on lower back.
Gabapentin is not recommended in such cases but pregnancy physiotherapy can definitely help.
I hope i have answered your query in detail,
Wishing you good health,
Regards
