How Can I Overcome Anxiety With Regard To Hearing People Lying When Their Actions Speak Differently?

Question: I always hear people saying that they don't sleep much, don't eat much, never watch tv, never go out, etc. but I've had a lot of roommates because I've been in over 20 psychiatric hospitals and all of them slept through the night and took naps during the day, they were snoring even so they had to be sleeping, and all of the patients ate three meals a day plus snacks, and they watched tv all day long. But out in the public I always hear people saying stuff like "Man I only got an hour of sleep last night," but I can't remember the last time I had a roommate who only slept an hour, most of them sleep 10 hours or even more if you count all the naps. I had one roommate who slept 24/7 - she only got up to eat. She didn't eat much but that's because she slept all day and couldn't wake up in time for meals. But if she were talking to someone outside of the hospital she'd probably say, "Man I starved myself in the hospital," she wouldn't say "Man I didn't eat much in the hospital because I slept 24/7." So even if what they are saying is true, they don't say the negative counterpart to it. And why do they say these types of things, just to brag about how awesome they are because they don't need to sleep or eat even though they do. And the person they say these things to always compliments them and says, "oh my god you must be so tired and hungry" but doesn't the person realize they could be lying. Please tell me why people say they don't eat much, don't sleep much, etc. even though they do. Do you think they are lying or bragging? Please give me a good honest answer because this topic causes me a lot of anxiety.

Eating and sleeping are essential part of animal life. Human being is essentially an animal. You should observe the animal world they never eat full. They eat moderatly and periodically. They do not have fixed time for eating. They whenever they feel hungry or in small amount continuously. Animals are of the opinion that whenever they get food, they should eat because they may not food every time they feel like, but they eat moderately. Some animals do eat full (like snakes) because their way of eating is such.

Human being, throughout the ages made a habit that they eat at specific time. Earlier people were just like animals. Eat when they feel hungry or when they have food, but never eat more. Later when the "modern" world developed the habits changed because of "fixed" life style (Like fixed job timing etc). So the concept of eating habit also changed.

Another aspect is the eating cooking revolution. Human being learned to cook tasty food according to each person's taste. Different types of food items were invented which initiates hunger and thirst. Even advertisements were made with color schema which trigger appetite.

All these and general sedentary life style changed human being's food habit. That is what you see today. An animal treading away from animal path.

In fact, because human being is an animal, he should not eat full, should not eat junk food, should exercise, should not indulge in activities which are harm full, should not be addicted to substances etc.

But, most of the human being are unable to stick to the above given diktats just because they can't. The present scenario do not allow them to do so. (But we should not forget that there many who do follow the diktat)

Majority of human beings are unable to stick to the life rules, but because of their ego and false sense of self esteem, majority of them will not accept that they do not follow life rules. So they start bragging. Advise others all things which they cannot follow at all. You must have heard "Easy to advise but difficult to follow".

So it is human nature to give advice but seldom follow it. I am not ignoring those people who follow these life rules and may or may not give advise.

So it is always better to see the "people" according to what they are and perceive them as a byproduct of ego and false self esteem.

I suggest because of the above aspects, please don't listen to people on these unnecessary matters. YOU ARE YOU. Try to be YOU.
