Question: I HAD A STRANGE ILLNESS THAT IS BAFFLING DOCTORS. IT STARTED WITH A BAD PAIN IN MY NAVEL AREA AFTER A WHILE IT GOT WORSE. I STARTED TO FEEL UPSET AND I STARTED VOMITING AND THE WAS BROWN-ISH AND BITTER. I WAS GOING FROM THE BED TO THE BATHROOM. THIS ALL WENT ON FOR ABOUT AN HOUR OR MORE. I SUDDENLY FELT MY THIGHS DRAWING UP AT WHICH TIME I STARTED TO EXPERIENCE INTENSE PAIN. I DID NOT GO TO THE HOSPITAL BUT THE NEXT DAY I FELT VERY WEAK AND I WENT TO THE DOCTOR SHE SAID IT WAS MY ELECTROLYTES WERE LOW BECAUSE I DRINK LOTS OF WATER. MY BLOOD WORK CAME BACK TODAY AND SHE COULD NOT SAY WHAT CAUSED MY ILLNESS BECAUSE ALL MY BLOOD WORK WAS NORMAL . I SHOULD LET YOU KNOW THAT I WAS DIAGNOSED WITH MYCOSIS FUNGOIDES A REAR TYPE OF LYMPHOMA . THIS STARTS ON THE OUTER SKIN AND THEN SPREADS TO THE INNER ORGANS. WHAT DO YOU SUGGEST? I THOUGHT OF DOING A PET SCAN SO I WANT TO DISCUSS IT WITH MY DOCTOR AT UNIVERSITY OF NC AT CHAPEL HILL.

Brief Answer:
Should consult with the oncologist as soon as possible

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,

I have gone through your medical history carefully and understood your concern.

Although blood works came back normal, taking into account your personal history of mycosis fungoides, I think you should get immediate consultation with an Oncologist. Should not wait anymore. I am really sorry your doctor didn't ask that if he knew your diagnosis.

Your case is not a matter of blood electrolytes but dealing with this lymphoma has altered all your body's function.

So better to consult with oncologist first. S/he will decide the next steps for investigations and treatment.

All the best. Let me know if you have any other concern.
