Brief Answer:
Life cycle of the mite is such that permethrin repeated after 1 week

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for writing to us at healthcaremagic

You are having scabies which is a mite infection treated with permethrin.

Permethrin will kill all the adult mites on single application but the eggs take a week's time to become adults again. So to kill them another application is recommended after 7 days. There is no need to apply permethrin before 7 days.

If the itching is severe I recommend my patients to take antihistaminic like tablet Chlorpheniramine 4 mg twice or thrice in a day depending on the intensity of itching and calamine lotion to be applied on the affected areas two to three times in a day.

I hope to have answered your queries and would be happy to clarify any further doubts.

Dr Asmeet
