How To Rule Out Tuberculosis?

default
Posted on Thu, 11 Feb 2016
Question: I have been skin tested for TB and it was positive. However, my lung X-ray was negative. Please don't think me nuts, however but I would like to be tested for bone TB because of pain in my hips for over a year.
I need the name of an Infectious Disease doctor in Orange County, Ca(or surrounds) that would do that.
I have searched the net and found no one yet. Ty.

Brief Answer:
Needs further confirmatory testing because skin test is not confirmatory

Detailed Answer:
Hi there.

Thanks for the query.

Skin test positive good TB does not always indicate that you are suffering from Tuberculosis. It mainly indicates that you have been exposed to the Tuberculosis bacteria and your body recognises the similar antigens as found in the skin injection and is reacting against it.

You need to do a Sputum TB test to look if you are suffering from Tuberculosis. This is a confirmatory test for Lung TB. Also TB PCR of your Sputum or suspected infected body fluid will confirm.

You can contact Dr. XXXXXXX Armen at St. XXXXXXX Hospital, 1100 W XXXXXXX Dr. Orange, Ca 82868. You can also contact Dr. XXXXXXX Faraday at the same Hospital.

I hope I have answered your query.

I will be available to answer your follow up queries.
