How To Rule Out Rashes Caused By Lichen Simplex Chronicus?
Question: Could my rash be lichen planus? I wanted a skin doctor to look at it but i keep getting md, and internal medicine doctors to answer my question.

I have reviewed the attached photographs.
Their are two possibilities: either lichen simplex chronicus or lichen planus .
Lichen simplex chronicus is a chronic eczematoid dermatosis characterised by intense itching, thickening of the skin and hyperpigmented bumps.
Lichen planus is an immune mediated disease characterised by itchy pink coloured to hyper pigmented bumps.
In either of the condition I recommend my patients to use high potency steroids like clobetasol propionate ointment on the affected areas twice daily along with antihistaminics like tablet levocetrizine 5 mg twice daily.
The lesions usually take 3-4 weeks to settle down.
These are prescription medicines and you need to consult a doctor in person to get them.
