How To Rule Out Aspirin Poisoning?

default
Posted on Tue, 8 Dec 2015
Question: My 13-year-old son took the equivalent of 5 aspirin (325 MG each) in a five hour time frame last night. He did eat dinner and vomited. His main complaint was and still is (now 24 hours later) ringing in his ears and hearing loss. He is also dizzy when he stands and very tired. Does he have aspirin poisoning and what can I do to help him feel better? He weighs about 120 pounds.

Brief Answer:
Visit the ER without delay.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

Your child could indeed be suffering from aspirin overdose and you should visit the ER without any further delay. I would not suggest any home measures. At the ER the doctors would be able to evaluate him clinically and administer suitable measures.

Let me know if I could help further.

Regards
