How To Know The Ovulation Date?

default
Posted on Fri, 6 Jun 2014
Question: Hello, my firs day of flow of my last menstrual period was 10 March. But on the 27 March my doctor did an exam and said I've not yet ovulated. I got pregnant just after but don't know exactly when the fecundation occurred. I did my first scan 17 April and my doctor said that as she couldn't see the embryo I should be around 4 weeks pregnant, not 5 as said my last day of flow. On the 15 April I did blood test that accused 977,77 Beta HCG, what was also around 4 weeks pregnancy. On the 15 May I did my second scan. The size of the embryo was 3,5 mm and we could not listen to the heartbeat. I am worried, but I believe my ovulation came very late and hope that my embryo is younger that we've imagined and that's why he is so small. What do you think about it? Thank you very much for your attention.

Brief Answer:
all parameters are normal

Detailed Answer:
Hello, thanks for trusting health care magic.
Firstly I would like to appreciate your knowledge and insight of your medical status.
Looking at the chronology and results of your tests, you ovulated a little later than 27 march i.e. around 30th march and thus giving this size of sac and also absence of cardiac activity.
Don't worry it is very common.
This difference of one week between ultrasound and menstruation based gestational age is in acceptable range.
bHCG levels are also in desired range
So don't be anxious about any problems in this pregnancy and that everything is within normal limits
Take care. In case you have other questions you can contact me on health care magic and I will be happy to help.

Thank you very much for your quick answer. My doctor was really worried last time because he said it was too small if he counted 9 weeks pregnancy and it could be that the development has stopped. But I prefer to stay confident. If I am 7 weeks pregnant (like I think) do you think it is normal to have an embryo 3,5mm sized? I forgot to tell you that in my first scan, 17/04, the sac gestational was measuring 5 mm and the luteo body was 13mm. Thank you very much for your opinion.

Brief Answer:
Both scans are normal

Detailed Answer:
Hello mam, both of your scans are normal and best is they co incite with each other.
So the growth of the baby is fine and you just need to take good care in the form of -
- healthy diet
- taking medicine on time daily
- adequate rest
- serial visits to the doctor as advised.
I wish you the best of health and may God bless you with a health baby soon.
