Brief Answer:
A scar can be improved cosmetically however it is not possible to erase it

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us at healthcaremagic

I have gone through your query and I have understood it.

Scars can only be made to look better cosmetically, though it is not possible to completely erase a scar.

The choice of procedure and how well a scar improves would depend on factors like:
-size of scar;
-appearance of scar, whether it is raised or atrophic(depressed);
-orientation to RSTL (Relaxed skin tension lines),
-whether it is skin colored or hyperpigmented;

I would like to request you to upload a digital photograph of the scar so that I am able to guide you better.

Various procedures that can be done are Scar revision (i.e excision and primary suture); steroids injections; microdermabrasion; dermarolling; resurfacing with a fractional Co 2 Laser etc.

Brief Answer:
Primary incision followed by suturing along RSTL

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

I have reviewed the Images.

In the Image I can see a horizontal, atrophic/depressed, wide scar.

The appearance can be improved by placing a fine/thin new scar in place of this wide scar.

By this I mean, giving an elliptical incision around the length of scar (horizontally/longitudinally) so as to create new edges which can then be closely approximated with a suture.

This will give you a fine/thinner, horizontally oriented, linear scar as compared to the present one which is wider horizontally oriented linear scar.

So, the final scar that you will get will be a much finer/thinner, linear scar, oriented horizontally. Basically the width of the scar would be reduced so that it will be less noticeable, however, the length of scar would remain the same.

I would suggest you to take an opinion of a plastic surgeon as well, regarding the same.

Cool. Thanks a lot.
Would also like to know if there could be any side effects of this technique?

Also can plastic surgery remove it completely?
Also would be great if you can give me contacts of some good plastic surgeons in XXXXXXX or in HealthMagic itself?

Brief Answer:
Contact a cosmetic& plastic surgeon

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

With this technique the width of scar will be reduced so that the final scar is a narrow fine line. There would be no particular side effects with this technique.

Subcuticular sutures are preferable on face for a better cosmetic result.

Brief Answer:
Dark circles are difficult to treat

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

yes, dark circles is a difficult proposition to treat because darkening in most cases is not actually not due to excess pigment as is commonly believed.

Various factors may have a role to play in causing dark circles.

-Hereditary seems to play a significant role in dark circles. In allergy prone individuals, a condition or state of 'atopy' exists & these atopic individuals more often than not manifest with 'dark circles' under the eyes.

-Dark circles also depends a lot on your lifestyle pattern--diet, sleep, computer / TV use and stress.
Stressors/ Eyestrain due to working for long hours on computers & lack of sleep play a major role too as do lack of regular and adequate sleep (6-8 hours).

-In some individuals dark circles may be due to thin under eye skin Or excessive subcutaneous vascularity; thin skin makes the blood in the blood vessels shine through and hence this appears dark.

-Another important cause of undereye dark circles is Iron deficiency Anemia specially in females.

-Other causes like skin laxity, dry skin, hormonal disturbances, nutritional deficiencies, and other chronic illnesses can also cause dark circles.

Skin lightening creams containing glycolic acid, kojic acid, Vit C may be helpful in reducing the appearance of dark circles.

Glycolic acid and Arginine peels are the two commonly used peels by dermatologists for undereye dark circles. You can try a few peeling sessions (6-8 sessions).

As can be judged from some of the reasons cited, good hydration, regular 6-8 hours of sleep, addressing stressors and a multivitamin and Iron supplement by themselves will go a long way in correcting this issue
