How To Determine The Date Of Conception?

default
Posted on Wed, 19 Apr 2017
Question: Please help I am really confused. My last period was the 28th January 2017. I have a positive pregnancy test. I booked in for an early private scan where I thought I would be 8 weeks. They said I was 5 to 6 weeks and could only see gestational sac and yolk but no fetal pole. How can I only be 5 to 6 weeks pregnant if I not had a period for 8 weeks? I have no bleeding no pain or anything. Can I still have a healthy baby or has it died? Please help asap I am.worried sick its my first baby taken 5 years to conceive. My periods are between 24 days and 34 days so makes ovulation different each month. The sonographer didnt sound hopeful at all.

Brief Answer:
It can be possible

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear, thanks for your query to HealthcareMagic.

I have read your question carefully and understand how desirable is your pregnancy, hence I will try to give you an explanation.

If your cycle is irregular and every 24 to 34 days, ovulation changes from one to another cycle, hence and conceiving time changes too.

It means, while your cycle is irregular, you have conceived vary late and your pregnancy is justified to be of 5 to 6 weeks.

Hence, if your sonographer/radiologist said that gestational sac is regular with yolk sac inside and you don't have any abdominal cramps with vaginal bleeding, there is nothing to worry.

Hope I have been helpful and please feel to ask any other doubts.

Best regards

Brief Answer:
Hope for the best

Detailed Answer:
Hi back dear,

I can understand your concerns very well, but feeling very stressed isn't going to help also.

So much stress can damage the desirable pregnancy.

Hence, take a deep breath and hope for the best and you will see that everything will be Okay.

If the other scan also, will not detect a fetal pole then it may be a missed abortion.

Hope I have been helpful and please feel free for further discussion.

Best regards
