Brief Answer: EXPLAINED BELOW Detailed Answer: Hello Thanks for writing to us with your health concern. None of the herbal remedies are scientifically proven to reduce sex drive, though many have been acclaimed for it. Liquorice root, chasteberry, spearmint tea, saltpeter etc are some agents known to do so ( again, no scientific evidence ) so you are free to try them, as the side effects are none / minimal. If increased libido is indeed a problem for you, the answer lies in two areas - behavioural / sexual counselling and anti testosterone medication. The medications has distinct side effects so counselling is by far the better option. Before considering treatment, try and decipher whether you really need treatment. Also, is it possible that the problem lies in your partner's subnormal libido, if so, it is wise to seek treatment on that count. All the best Please feel free to discuss further.

Many thanks for the answer. Actually i haven't had sex in 2 years and now i have a great partner. I however do not want to make love to him before we take our relationship to thenext level. My libido is generally high just before i get my periods yet with my partner it is stronger than ever. We do have a healthy relationship and he respects my decision with not making love for now. We sort of get intimate but do not take it any further because i do know that if we did at this stage of our relationship i would regret and this would affect our relationship in a negative way. So this is why i wanted to decrease my libido if it makes any sense. Thanks very much!

Brief Answer: CAN USE OCP Detailed Answer: Thank you for the appreciation. I fully empathize with what you are saying. Women with PCOD often have higher than normal libido levels due to the circulating hormones. I am glad you provided this background, however, with this scenario, taking drugs does not make sense, as there would be side effects that you do not need to deal with. At this time, it is best to take spearmint tea, chasteberry extract, liquorice root etc, though I do not endorse them as there are no published studies for the same. Another option is taking oral contraceptive pills. They would reduce PCOD symptoms, reduce your libido, and also protect against any unwelcome pregnancy in case you do succumb. As you desire short term libido restraint, this is the best option. Take care.
