Brief Answer:
Is it due to an acute stressor or your stress is a general day-to-day one?

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Can you please answer few more details about your stress? Was it precipitated due to any event which has happened or is it a general day-to-day stress that you are talking about? If it is a stressor which has recently happened and is not allowing you to perform your daily activities, then you will require a professional help from psychiatry in the form of behavioural psychotherapy and counselling. Otherwise the following should help.

Here are a few suggestion in general how to de-stress yourself. Some work and some don't depending on the stressor and subjective preferences.

Meditation and contemplation surely help in de-stressing when done everyday and rigorously. Another way is to jot down your thoughts and maintain a daily dairy. This will help you to reflect your activities and find those that are stressing you out. Another obvious thing is to indulge in the activities you find are pleasurable. Going out for movies, or spending more time with your spouse or friends etc.

If all these don't help and you still feel too anxious, then we can institute pharmacological agents that should help you for a short term.

Please do get back for any further clarifications.
