Brief Answer:
post traumatic stress disorder

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your medical questions

You are describing flashbacks from you childhood traumas from your father. This is a common occurance called post traumatic stress disorder. you have noted that you have tried different medications including valium, gabapentin and haldol. These medication do very little to help PTSD. I would recommend that you see your medical provider and try you on an SSRI and abilify. The combination helps to reduce those dreams. If this combination doesn't help have you thought of possibly using medical marijuana. There are good studies that indicate the medical marijuana helps reduce the flashbacks and anxiety associated with PTSD.

In addition to medication I recommend that you read and study a book called the anxiety and phobia handbook by Dr. Bourne. This in addition to medication will help reduce you anxiety and help with sleep.

i hope this answers your question and helps you with the symptoms of PTSD
