Question: Hello, This is regarding my friend who is 26 yrs old. She lost her mom 10 years back and my friend was very much attached to her. After that, during her growing years she had seen many ups and downs in life like her elder sister's affairs, divorce and fights. However, she was ok till her sister's marriage but after that since she is staying alone with her dad, she kind of getting aggressive. There is no one to whom she can share her feelings. She has fought with her friends too bcoz of one guy whom she liked. For past few months, she has started behaving strangely, such as blaming and abusing her father and sister for all past wrong deeds, messaging them till late nights, not eating much, taking green tea and coffee throughout the day. She even is trying to get a job and go for interviews (she has very good communication skills), but then blame her sister(who is residing in another state) for not getting a job. However, she behaves normally with other people and does household chores herself like cleaning, sometimes cooking. I am unable to understand what can be the problem. Please help.

Brief Answer:
probable psychotic disorder; continue drugs.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome here.
I can understand your concerns.
I have read the details you have given about your friend.
She is getting aggressive and abusing family members, having poor self care and suspicious beha. She has had many stressors in past.

The current description suggests that she might be having a psychotic spectrum disorder. It could be a delusional or paranoid disorder. The life stressors has led her to this kind of mental state.

I think olimelt is the right choice for her. The dose can be increased depending upon the response under doctor's supervision. The drug treatment is necessary to prevent progression of disease.

Hope this helps.

Feel free to ask further.

Thanks.
