How To Counteract Adverse Effects Of Depo-provera?

default
Posted on Sat, 24 May 2014
Question: I am having horrible symptoms with my new Depo-Provera birth control shot. I am depressed, bloating, feeling confused, and I am getting fevers on and off. I am bleeding constantly. I also noticed that my appetite is increasing. This is my first week. I don't think I can make it until my appointment for the second shot in July. Is there any way to counteract this medication? I don't like how it is making me feeling physically and emotionally.

Brief Answer:
Symptoms will subside at times goes on

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for posting on HCM,

I am pleased to be able to assist you. You are indeed suffering from serious adverse effects of depo-provera but be rest assured that the symptoms do subside with time. At the moment you will have to manage it symptomatically by taking specific medications to counteract the bloating, and fever. As for the bleeding, it will subside subsequently could take about a week or two. Appetite increase is a common side effect which you can only manage by trying to control food in take (as it can lead to weight gain). These symptoms are normal for first use of depo-provera, but you will feel a lot more better when taking the next dosage.
In the mean time, do book an appointment with either a family planning service provider or your gynecologist who can help with managing the symptoms.

Hope this helps and wish you the best.
