Brief Answer:
hold off solids, fluid replacement, probiotics, pepto bismol

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

Most persons improve at home but if you are very concerned then he should be seen.

Treatment consists of -(1) he needs to drink small amounts at a time, at least in the first hour of using fluids. If this is tolerated then the amount can be increased. Initially a person who is vomiting is advised to drink 1 to 2 tbs every 5 mins for the first hour and increase if no vomiting occurs

Use of peppermint or ginger tea as part of his fluids may help ease his abdominal discomfort

(2)hold off solid food till there is a 4 hour window with no vomiting or diarrhea, if this starts.
When this 4 hour period passes then a small amount of solid dry foods are used initially

(3)tylenol can be continued for the pain and fever

(4)pepto bismol may also help as well

(5)probiotics can also be used, they help restore the normal flora in the gut

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
