How long should Tamoxifen be continued after a double mastectomy?

Posted on Mon, 24 Jul 2017 in Cancer
Question: my daughter had a double mastectomy, 6 chemo treatments three weeks apart, then had her ovaries removed to stop hormone production all last year. With the ovaries gone, does she still need to take the tamoxifen citrate?

Brief Answer:
Hello. Yes, she requires Tamoxifen

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear.

I have gone through the details. So to stop the extra-ovarian source of estrogen from acting, Tamoxifen or another hormonal agent needs to be taken.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Thanks and regards
