How Long Does It Take To Get Over A Cough From Bronchitis?

default
Posted on Tue, 12 Jun 2018
Question: I have been sick for months now, after 3 weeks of coughing I went in to the doctor. Diagnosed with bronchitis and given inhaler and agumenten. Symptoms got worse and went back in, did a chest x ray which came back clean as well as CBC. Breath sounds concluded pneoumina and pretenzone and doxycycine where give. After these treatments I still felt the same, wet, chesty cough, runny nose, lots of mucus, ear pain, sinus pain, neck pain and headache especailly when coughing. My primary care physican gave me a dry powder inhaler and another round of antibiotics. None of this worked, I went back in and had another x ray which was clean, a test for whooping cough which was negative and Pulmonary function test which was normla.

Brief Answer:
Please consult a Pulmonologist

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to HealthcareMagic,

I have read carefully your concern and I am sorry for your situation.

According to your medical history, its been already months that you are not feeling well despite the several treatments.

In such conditions, if you were my patient I would recommend you to do a chest CT scan. Sometimes the chest X-ray does not show everything in the lungs and the CT is the best examination which we prefer for detecting better the lung tissue.

Other tests needed are the microscopic examination of the phlegm for AFB and bacteria combined with the PPD skin test.

So I'd encourage you to see a specialist pulmonologist who for sure will order the above tests for you. After having the results he will guide you further for the right treatment or you can attach the results here and I will try to help you again.

Please discuss with your doctor for the above

I wish a fast recovery for you

Regards and feel free to ask me again
