Question: Hi,
I am 29 years old. I suffered lots of failures in life and became short tempered and unfocused in studies so went to a psychiatrist.
As per his treatment I am taking Arpizol 15mg and Pacitane 2mg for last 2 years. Yet found no improvement in my psychological condition. I was 65kg when i had not started the medication. And i went on 80kgs after taking medication in just 4 months. Taking medication for last 6 years. For first two years i was adviced by psychiatrist to take Sulpitac. Then he advised Nexipride for an year. And now for last two years i am taking Arpizol n Pacitane.
Does it takes so long to get rid of such psychological disorders? Or i am not getting appropriate treatment? I have almost lost hope. What should i do?

Brief Answer:
Yes they take time

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX
Thanks for using healthcaremagic.

Majority of psychiatric disorder take long time to recover and mostly managed with medication. Once you stop treatment there is chance of relapse.

What you are taking is typical for so called psychotic disorders like schizophrenia. But in case you have another diagnosis than psychosis there is need to review treatment.

You are requested to provide all symptom details in chronological order since beginning so I can review the diagnosis along with all past papers. Once I receive I will revert back to you with appropriate suggestion.
Thanks and regards

Dear doctor,
Thanks for giving reply.
Let me you tell details of how it all started.
I was 16 and was preparing for 10th std exams which i wanted to be top in. I was great at studies and used to come within first 10 ranker students of my school.
One day after doing mastrubbation i found that for some 5 hrs there was no erection in my penis. It was a normal phenomenon which i got to know after an year. But for the year i was deadly scared that something wrong has happened to me n my sexuality n all. The whole year i kept getting obsessive compulsive thoughts. It was all new for me and i was afraid. All resulted in getting less marks in 10th final exam. Later in college in 11th i used to do plucking eyebrows as they were thick n to enhance my beauty. Once one of my lady friend said i look like transsexuals because of the eyebrow plucking. I fell in self dialog telling all the day myself that i do not look like transsexuals n all. I started bunking college. Again got less marks in final exams... Successively from that mastrubbation incident i very slowly started beoming less active. And after some 5 years i was completely inactive , started felling no emotions , became short tempered, unfocused in studies. I dont feel fresh and active. And started treatment before some 6 years from today. I am still ready to undergo treatment but i have lost trust in doctor and drugs. If i get normal at some 35 or 36 of my age, whats the use? All important years going wasted whats the use then? I want to recover early like in an year or so... What will you suggest me to do?

Brief Answer:
I understand your emotions

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX
Thanks for reverting back to me.

I do not think this symptom profile matches for the current treatment. In your case there is need of one anti depressant which do not cause weight gain like Fluoxetine or bupropion.

If you happen to be from UP you can visit me in XXXXXXX at medical college. If that is not possible for you take another opinion from another doctor in your city and talk about anti depressant.

I assure you that with proper treatment a lot can be improved.
Thanks and regards
