Question: I fractured my tibia and fibula dec 28. Dr operated dec30 and put long nail and screws in. In the meantime I need a total knee replacement other leg. Much pain stiffness locking much Stiffness. It has been over 12 weeks since my surgery for fractures. How much longer do I need to wait to have the minimally invasive total knee? It really hurts.

Brief Answer:
Get an X-ray done to see the extent of healing.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The long bones like tibia and fibula take 3-6 months to heal properly depending on the patient's physical condition. The extent of healing can be detected by radiological methods like X-ray and by clinical examination. You can get your leg examined by the operating surgeon and he can tell you the approximate time you should wait before going for a knee replacement.
If the bones have healed well on X-ray then you can get the surgery done now also.
I hope this answers your query.
