How Is Scabies Infection Transmitted From One Person To The Other?

Question: I hope you look like the picture Ha ..Just kidding I have to laugh about something. My case is odd..I work
for the Sheriff's office at an elementary school primarily. The children at school have had scabies and
it was rampant. Many teachers got it. I thought I was lucky but first I contracted if you say that ....shingles!!!!
around my back and abdomen. I just thought I was tough. I told the Doctor I had also been exposed to scabies although I tried to be careful. I did complete normal protocol for shingles got well in about a month which is now. I knew there would be still some other lingering things, but I developed what they said was contact dermatitis on the wrists and back of one hand; but they assured me it was not scabies or shingles and I could go to work and around Thanksgiving go back around my 86 year old parents. they also said not to worry about covering the dermatitis SP? I just couldn't go with out completely bandaging and wearing long sleeves though too nervous.
I also didn't touch or hug them and sat way off. Long story short later as dermatitis started clearing I saw
a burrow very small inside of wrist no other place.; Dr. confirmed scabies but was supprised it was not anywhere else even webs of fingers clear and didn't itch there just the other weird contact stuff itched. I had been away from the school for days and was attacking the shingles so hard with everyting even antiviral herbs and an antibiotic just to treat a sinus infection..do you think perhaps I may get lucky and not have infested my parents, my Daddy is so feeble with nighttime dementia and I'm worried as about knowing as he itches a lot anyway ..is there anything I need to do I never got close to him which was hard and thank goodness
I never had any skin contact with anyone but could they literaly just get off onto something even before
I saw the small place at least I was covered and had washed and about sanitized my skin off anyway worse than XXXXXXX Mandel. I'm following the Dr.'s protcal for it aggressively and may go to a hotel for 72 hrs.
and do the Permethran cream..I know this post doesn't have a real definitive question..just freaking about parents and info is confusing as to how contagious etc. I also didn't mention that when I got home yesterday from Dr. I was going to do the Permethran cream...I put it on after a shower and in thirty minutes my face went nuts and I got welts all around my eyes on cheeks etc. I had not got anything there before. Went to the Dr. next morning asked if it was the cream. He didn't say no but said it was weird because I didn't break out where the cream was..It later got worse eyelids red swollen ..went back and got some kind of steroid shot tonight...start steroid type pills next six days. I have no known allergies and never had a rash before. But he wants me to use permethran cream again but take prescription Benadryl. I'm gonna do it.. He said if I have a weird reaction by leaving it on overnight to come back ..it doesn't make me feel better to know it is basically cotton poison, it does sound classier to say I have boll weavils than mites Ha! .And after the steroid shot..I do look better except eyes but maybe the pills will help..I forgot others can see this but shoot I have lost all pride now anyway. XXOO He did
say because I have never had one the steroid shot could make me hyper..I prefer to
think witty. Hope your one of those Doctors who is funny when they can be. seriously I appreciate your advise..figure its like police work and sometimes we just have to laugh too...blessings

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I have reviewed your information fully. Scabies need prolonged close contact for transmission. You simply didn't get this and as such there is no reason to get worried about it. You could not have infected anyone without such close contact.

I think the reaction was probably related to the permethrin skin cream. It's okay and if that doesn't work well, do well to ask your doctor about the possibility of using mectizan for that.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.
