Brief Answer:
Advised to see Pedodontist

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome.
Thanks for sharing your concern.

As per the history posted here I can suggest you following things.

1. Your child's age is five years that means he has deciduous(milk teeth)teeth.

The treatment done is very different in case of milk teeth. The routine root canal treatment performed on adults is not followed here. Treatment like Pulpotomy or Pulpectomy(Root canal in children) is done here.

2.Secondly, your Pedodontist will first take x rays of the infected teeth and then based upon the amount of destruction caused, either of the above treatment will be done.

3.Please remember these teeth are temporarily there in mouth until permanent teeth erupts. Therefore treatment approach also varies based on duration. The dentist just tries to keep the mouth infection free and arrest the progressing decay. Therefore treatment is done slowly, comfortably and in many seatings as per the child's cooperation. Most of the procedures done is under local spray anesthetics.

4.Regarding the rotatory bur which is used for adults is different in case of children. The milk teeth have such an anatomy, that it does not require extensive drilling. It can be easily cleaned with hand instruments too.Even if it is required it is required for a very short duration and a different bur head (needle) for kids.

4.Most important concern is pain,so for that also there is a remedy.Your dentist will first give antibiotics and analgesics syrup for five days. Thus the infection reduces dramatically in children. That is the time when dentist attempts the treatment.

5.Finally I would say please do not be worried and see Pedodontist(a dental specialist who deals with child's teeth exclusively).He/she will definitely do the needful and your child will have a pleasant experience.

Hope I have given you detail answer.
For any further doubts please let me know.
Thanks.
Take care.
