While clinical examination plays a vital role, it is given important. As the prostate palpation plays a crucial role in differentiating it between benign prostatic hypertrophy [inflamed prostate] and prostatic cancer. As the cancer involves the posterior lobe [peripheral zone] of the prostate, it takes the examining surgeon to thrush [jab], in order to confirm is it posterior lobe before withdrawing.
