Question: Hi Doc i have a question i had protected sex with a woman i knew back in april 2013 but i very stupidly likeded her outer clit area.I did not put my tongue inside of her just outter clit licked for a few seconds. Then in mid XXXXXXX i was bitten by two ticks that i had in me for two days after pulling them out four days later i became very sick.I tested negative for tick born illnesses a week after getting bit.But a month and a hslf later i still felt sick so i went back to doc and tested again.Rocky mountain spotted fever came back positive.Took a few weeks of Doxy felt a little better but not back to normal. Then i went to see a LLMD in NY and they sent 15 viles of blood to Igenex lab it came back positive for Babesia and Borellia Hermsii. So they put me on a few diff antibiotics for 4 months i was on Clindamycin/zithromax/nystatin/plaquinil i have been on all these for 4 months i feel a bit better but still not 100% i was scared thinking i got HIV from that time back in April but i did an HIV blood test at 3 months at 6 months and agsin at 9 months all negative.i even did an oraquick home swab test at 10 months and 11 months. All negative but im still not 100% better i still have night sweats at times not real heavy but some what and i also have Mslaise at times feel run down and weak. And most recently i came down with Thrush my tongue is white and i have thick lines on the side of my tongue both sides.I am scared because these are all symtoms of HIV.I know all the antibiotics is whT most likely gave me the Thrush. But im scared thinking thst the tick illnesses might have lowered my immune system so im not producing the HIV antibodies. Is this possible? I know oral sex is a low risk and i have know reason to brlieve the girl had anything iys just very scary i was going to do another blood test at 1 year mark next week is it necessery? Please help Doc

Brief Answer: HIV free.Tick born diseases to treat adequately. Detailed Answer: Hi, Welcome to HCM. Thanks for posting your query. As you had protected sex and as you rightly pointed out that oral sex carries a low risk for HIV and all your HIV test came negative, I can assure that you are free from HIV. HIV tests remain negative even after 6 months means that you are absolutely safe from HIV provided your test had covered both HIV 1 and 2. Even if the Tick born infections interfered with the antibody formation in case of a HIV infection (Quite unlikely), this will not go beyond six months and you need not have to go for further test. If you are still feel sick, then it could not be due to HIV, but for the tick born diseases treatment is inadequate. Dr S.Murugan

Brief Answer: You need anti fungal preparations for oral thrush. Detailed Answer: Hi, Welcome back. Yes absolutely. Oral thrush is quite possible with prolonged antibiotic therapy. Application of anti-fungal preparations and oral anti-fungal preparations will help you get out of oral thrush. Wish you a speedy recovery. Dr S XXXXXXX
