How Does An Ovum Transmigration Occur After Salpingectomy For Ectopic Pregnancy?
Question: Hi Doc,
I have a hydrosalpinx left sided fallopian tube with minimal spillage detected in 2014. My right sided tube is hale and healthy till 2015. In Aug 2015, I got pregnant with an ectopic pregnancy and got treated with Mwthotroxate 2 dosages. My queries below:
1. During the cycle of ectopic pregnancy, I ovulated with my left ovary follicle but ended up with right sided ectopic pregnancy. Is that possible?
2. After my ectopic pregnancy, my right sided fallopian tube (which was earlier fine) also turned hydrosalpinx and is detected as blocked in HSG. When consulted a doctor, she advised me to undergo a laproscopy and get my both the tubes removed so that IVF can go smooth atleast with 55% chances.

Yes dear unfortunately it is possible to have contralateral ovulation and then transperitoneal transport of egg and thus the pregnancy.
Leave that all aside and take it now that the only option is now test tube baby.
Before IVF it is best to remove hydrosalpinx so as to have best success rates.
It is not that pregnancies don't occur with hydrosalpinx but definitely the rate of success is significantly decreased.
So you should go ahead with removal of tubes and let's hope for the best
