How Can Severe Hyperpigmentation On The Body While Treating Tuberculosis Be Treated?

default
Posted on Wed, 20 Sep 2017
Question: Hello doctor. Iam XXXX from XXXXXXX Age-22. have taken Anti tuberculosis medication for 6 months from march 2016 to september 2016. During the first two months i took tab forecox and proceeding 4 months i took macox plus(INH-300mg & Rifampicin -450mg) . Out of the 4 months, for the first 3 months i took double the dose (i.e, 2 tab per day instead of 1), so rif-900mg per day for 3 months.
During that time i had very severe skin hyperpigmentation and various other dermatological issues. Now about 10 months have passed, i am not completely recovered from my hyperpigmentation. It's apparently leading to a kind of depression, social withdrewness etc. Pls provide me a solution. Thankyou .

Brief Answer:
Remedy for Pigmentation

Detailed Answer:
hello. thank you for writing to us.

I am Dr. Kakkar(dermatologist). I have gone through your query and I have noted your concern.

I suggest you to use a broad spectrum sunscreen, throughout the day e.g Suncros Soft Sunscreen (SPF 50+), Reapply every 2-3 hours.
In addition I suggest you to use a kojic acid and hydroquinone combination cream e.g either kojiglo forte cream Or Radiant lite cream or Depiwhite cream. Kojic acid and hydroquinone are skin lightening ingredients. Use the cream twice daily, morning and night. In the morning apply it before applying sunscreen.
These are prescription medications and I suggest you to use them under supervision and regular follow up of a dermatologist.

Regards
