How Can An Insect Bite Be Treated?

default
Posted on Thu, 27 Jul 2017
Question: My 35 yr old daughter got a bug bite yesterday and it just looked like a small rash the size of a nickel. Today, it is looking like the top flesh is looking to be eaten away, the size of a dime now. We took a picture.... We put neosporin and a bandaid on it. Would have put prid if I had some. Should I be worried?

Brief Answer:
Continue with neosporin and bandaid

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for writing to us at healthcaremagic
I have reviewed the attached photographs.
You need not worry as this erosion will heal with the application of neosporin and bandaid.
No need of using prid.
In such cases if there is irritation I recommend the patient to take antihistaminic like tablet Chlorpheniramine 4 mg once daily for 5-7 days.
Avoid application of soap over the area and donot rub or scratch it.
This will heal in 7- 10 days.
Wish you good luck.

Dr Asmeet
