Question: I have a small ( pea sized) lump on the left hand side of my abdomen about 5 cm above my hip bone.

It is not painful

Hello and thank you for your question.
It sounds like you have a small lymph node or cyst. As long as it stays small and is not painful I would not worry about it.
You can have your doctor check it the next time you go but it does not require a special trip to get it examined.
Signs of concern would be if it enlarged rapidly, if it became painful or if it became red and inflamed.
If any of these happen then see a doctor right away.
