How Can A Painful Bony Bump On The Middle Finger Be Treated?

default
Posted on Thu, 13 Jul 2017
Question: I have a sore on the middle finger on my right hand. It can be very painful. My gp says it's arthritis. Now I have one starting to appear on the middle find of my left hand. What can I do to relive the pain. At times I put a finger guard on it as if I happen to bump it, it's more painful. Any suggestions?

Brief Answer:
Ice, medication

Detailed Answer:
Hi there

Thanks for the query

The bump is called Heberden node. It's commonly seen in arthritis of the finger joint.

You can take Tablet Ibuprofen 400mg twice a day after meals and Tablet Rabeprazole twice a day before meals for 5 days. This will give relief. Apply cold packs to the affected region thrice a day for relief.

Avoid pressure on the affected regions.

I hope I have answered your query.

I will be available to answer your follow up queries.
