How Can A Cyst In The Kidney Be Treated?

default
Posted on Mon, 29 May 2017
Question: Hi, yesterday I was at my family Doctor, gave me the abdomen ultrasound result. All good but my left Kidney which is small in shape had a big cyst of 7.2 cm but my Doctor suggested to watch it for now and in six months will do an ultrasound or a CT scan. But now I am worried I do not know how serious it is and scared if it breaks what might happen. I am diabetic but controlled and I have blood pressure and take coversyl 4 mg a tablet and half everyday. Also lately for the last two years I have been experiencing sudden heart palpitations and cause my blood preasure to go high. Is it possible that the adrenalin gland getting affected from this cyst or when I am tired and instead of pain causing this problem for me.

Let me know

Please advice me and what might happen and what are the symptoms related to this issue.

Thanks.

Brief Answer:
Supportive care

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

I read your question and i understand your concern. Kidney size is roughly 10 to 13 cm in length and 5 to 7 cm in width. So a cyst of 7 cm is very big in kidneys, Most of the renal cysts however are benign and means no harm and just needs supportive care for pain . If it bothers, you can consult an interventional radiologist and they can drain the cyst for you via ultrasound guide .

High blood pressure needs prompt control with diet lifestyle adjustments and compliant use of anti hypertensives. Even if adrenalin gland is affected, which is less likely, you have other adrenal gland on other kidney to cover you up so no worries for that. Do as directed by yoru doctor and if you dont have any other symptom like pain in flanks or discomfort, just wait and observe.

I hope it helps. Take good care of yourself and dont forget to close the discussion please.
