Brief Answer:
Reinforcement of positive behavior

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX
Thanks for using Healthcaremagic.

I read your query and understand your concerns.

Regarding the management of ADHD there is often need for multi pronged treatment. Neither the medication nor the behavioral intervention is sufficient to control all symptoms of ADHD especially when someone suffers with severe ADHD.

I hope that medication is part is covered by her treating psychiatrist and I will focus on behavioral part of management.

I recommend following things
1. Reinforce her positive behavior. Give verbal as well as physical compliments to your child from time to time after a good show of behavior. Whenever there is unwanted behavior remove something pleasant from the environment of child so it helps you in shaping the behavior of child.

At the same time it is important to avoid any kind of physical punishment.

I hope this answers your question.

I think, as you might have good intent, do not realize a child of this disability. You seem to not recognise some issues. Is there someone I can contact with more recognition ?

I understand if you can't help...that has been something I deal with often

child has been up over 24 hours...

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX
Thanks for follow up.

I am sorry to admit that sleep part I missed as the query was slightly fragmented.

For time being it is advisable to give promethazine 0.5 mg per kg for temporary relief to child.

The medication belongs to anti histamine category and have good sedative properties without any serious side effects.

I hope this helps you.
Thanks again.
