How Accurate Are Virginity Test?
Question: Dear specialist,
I have a few questions regarding the hymen. I’ve decided to get intimate with my boyfriend. However, I am worried about the consequences it might have for me in the future. Unfortunately, my parents disapprove of my boyfriend and already made arrangements for me to marry someone. In short, I am getting an arranged marriage in a couple of years and the subject of virginity is very sensitive from where I come from. Obviously if I were to have sex with my boyfriend I will damage my hymen and Im not looking to get it surgically repaired. However, I would like to know if I could have an “alibi” for myself on my wedding night if my future husband becomes suspicious of me not being a “virgin”, I could possibly be subjected to visit a hospital. Now I have heard stories from other girls who had been subjected to a “virginity test” and how a gynecologist can determine how many times and how long ago since you have been sexually active. I have been reading a lot online about this subject to conclude that this test can’t be accurate the least bit and that any accredited would agree. So I would like to hear from you of what you think of that “virginity test”. Also, I was wondering if it was possible through a visit to the gynecologist to see that the hymen has been broken through sexually intercourse rather than other various typical activities like running or playing sports. Also, can a gynecologist through examining the area see if the hymen is actually elastic or is it just an assumption they give if you were not to bleed on your first time? I was planning on my meeting my boyfriend in the following month for two days. i might be subjected to the test in 4-5 years. Does that really affect the accuracy of the test? Plus, one i could be subjected to the test my husband would have already penetrated me so do you think my future doctor will be able to tell that i have been sexually active before my marriage?

Doing the test after 5 years does not affect the accuracy. It depends on the experience and expertise of the gynecologist performing the test.
The test can be done before marriage also. If it is after the marriage then it cannot be detected if you had sex 5 years earlier or just after marriage.
