Is Pain In The Neck, Ear, Throat And Chest A Serious Concern?

default
Posted on Sat, 26 Nov 2022
Question: Hi, I’m a 26 male who has had neck, ear and throat pain for approximately 1 month along with chest pain. I’ve have two Laryngoscopys, a chest cat scan, 2 chest X-rays, a CBC and an ultrasound of my throat and thyroid. I continue to have pain. The ENT said this was acid reflux and post nasal drip. I’ve read a lot about hypopharynx cancer and I’m petrified because these symptoms persist. Any input or help that you can give me would appreciated. I’m flipping out with worry!!!

Brief Answer:
Need to rule out cervical neck muscle spasm...

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

I have gone through your query thoroughly and I am of the opinion that you could be having laryngopharyngeal reflux with cervical muscle spasm.

As you have already been diagnosed with the former and on medications, I would recommend you to get the X-ray of cervical spine to confirm the spasm of the muscles in the cervical region. Cervical muscle spasm can present with pain in the region of temples, ear, scalp, around the front of the neck, etc.

I don’t think so you are having hypopharyngeal cancer.

Hope this answers your query; I’ll be available for the follow up queries.
