Question: Hi

in october 2017 I had De Quervain’s Tenosynovitis issue,

issue root cause: we had a shower in bathroom, shower handle which helps in changing the hot to cold and cold to hot is very short and very tight.

Four months time frame I used to apply pressure of the thumb daily to shower handle.) then i got affected with the issue

I took acemiz mr and rest ant ice packs for 10 days .and still pain is somewhat there when I tried to grip something.
First time :
I went to doctor and he took x ray and nothing he found .

He told to take ultrasound for 4 days and rest the wrist.

After that I took care for 1 month and pain almost got relived.

Second time :
And then my baby bended backwards while she is in my hands . then again it started to hurt a lot.

Again I went to one more orthopedic at my home, he took X ray again and nothing issues he found.he prescribed ultrasound for 4 days and told that it is a ligament issue will take few months to get relived.
I asked if some stretching are there to gain strength in muscles
He told nothing is there

Important note: when I went for physiotherapist in XXXXXXX first time physiotherapist prescribed some exercises

Exercises:

Wrist extension
Wrist radial deviation strengthening

My 3 questions

Brief Answer:
Ultrasonic massager wil help.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

For de Quervain's tenosynovitis, you need to give rest to your wrist and avoid all stressful and painful activities. Using an elastic wrist brace will help. The exercises that you have been recommended are alright. In addition to this, gradual grip strengthening is also needed. The portable ultrasonic massager is a good option. It improves blood circulation in the area and speeds the healing. You can continue with oral muscle relaxant in case the pain is persistent.

I hope this answers your query. In case you have additional questions or doubts, you can forward them to me, and I shall be glad to help you out.

Wishing you good health.

Brief Answer:
Details below.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

You can use medicare support compression protector. It will provide the adequate support needed by your wrist. You can remove the brace at night while resting. Do wrap it around the wrist - neither too tight nor too loose. It should provide a support and should not restrict the movements of the wrist. Some movements of the thumb may be restricted.

Hope my answer is helpful.
