Is Slight Pain In The Right Eye While On Medication For Interstitional Pulmonary Fibrosis A Serious Concern?

default
Posted on Mon, 4 Jul 2022
Question: Hi Sir/Madam,

My father is feeling little pain in the right eye since yesterday. Attached the picture of my father's right eye.

Since he is on IPF medication (Interstitional pulmornary fibrosis), he will not go outside and will take rest only at home.

Currently, he is using eye drops - " Lubricant Eye drops - GenTeal" since yesterday.

Please give him the suitable suggestion/advise. Thank you.

Thank you

Brief Answer:
Appears to Angular Conjunctivitis

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

Looking at the picture of your father attached, this appears to be a case of angular Conjunctivitis which is generally allergic in nature.

Source of allergy needs to be identified. But with the limited information provided, before arriving at any diagnosis, I would suggest a visit to the Ophthalmologist. Vision needs to be tested, pupillary reaction needs to be tested. Color vision needs to be tested. Intraocular pressure needs to be tested. Only after checking everything thoroughly, the doctor can prescribe specific medication to treat the infection.

For now, clean the eye in fresh water. Do not use any eyedrop without getting examined by an ophthalmologist. You also need to specify any know allergen history to the doctor.
