Question: Hi I had a gastric bypass roux and Y in 2001. I lost 100 pounds and felt great and was in great shape and now have regained about 40 pounds back. I no longer get the dumping syndrome like I did in the past which kept me on track as well . My question is how do I reset my pouch w/o feeling hungry an hour later? I need to lose this weight I feel tired all the time. Thank you, Robin

Brief Answer:
Diet plus resistance training.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I'm Dr. Kumar, thanks for using 'Ask A Doctor' service.
I've gone through your query and here is my answer.

Firstly, I'd suggest to go on any online site and get your maintenance calories calculated. These are the calories which are required by your body to maintain the weight you are on at present.

Now initially cut down your calorie intake by 10% for the first two weeks after that create a calorie deficit of 20 to 30%. If possible try to do some aerobics or mild to moderate resistance training.

Aim at losing not more than 0.5 kg of weight per week.

To keep your hunger satisfied take yohimbine supplement pills along with Garcinia and conjugated linoleic acid. They suppress your appetite. Caffeine 300mg could be taken as a single dose to boost your metabolism.

Please, have patience in the meanwhile.
Start slowly but be regular.
You can binge your favorite diet once a week.

Do follow up after 3 months.
Frankly speaking, there is no easy way out of this, so please remain motivated to follow a proper diet and training plan.

Hope I was helpful, follow-ups are most welcome.
Thanks
