Brief Answer:
Considerations.

Detailed Answer:
hello and thank you for sending the question.

It is certainly possible the antibiotic that you are taking has caused the allergic reaction that you have described. Antibiotics can cause hives which is a skin irruption and a manifestation of an allergic reaction.

I would recommend that you stop taking the antibiotic at this time and that you contact your primary physician or the physician who prescribed the antibiotic to obtain an alternative treatment.

The hives should gradually fade away without much intervention. If you have significant itching you could consider using some Benadryl 25 mg every six hours as needed.

Thanks again for sending the question.

Sincerely,

Dr. Galamaga
