Question: Hi, I am on my second week of Ribaxinin? The SIBO drug. I also have LPR. I am noticing a positive change in my bowel symptoms, but not much in the LPR. Are these related? What should I do after the two week course? Also, is there anything I should be eating or not eating with SIBO and LPR together? For me, it's hard to tell which is which, and what came first!

Hello and Welcome to 'Ask A Doctor' service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice,
Rifaximin is an antibiotic used to treat conditions like SIBO or Irritable bowel syndrome while LPR is larygopharyngeal reflux in which acid is refluxed back into esophagus from stomach. So both issues are completely different and have no relation with each other as such.
To treat LPR initially and endoscopy would be done to find the cause of it like whether a lax esophageal sphinchter is a cause of it or H.pylori bacteria is causing it.As per the results treatment with Proton pump inhibitors and prokinetic drugs would be started for long terms to treat LPR.
Secondly after 2 weeks course of Rifaximin a stool test have to be done to see if the bad colonies of bacteria's are eliminated or not.

Yes you should eat clean food.Clean eating means diet should consist of 60%complex carbohydrates(rich in fibers) 30% protein 30%(lean) and 10% poly and mono saturated fats.
Stay away from fine flour and pizza etc fast food.
Take greek yoghurt ,kimchi and fermented food which contain lots of good bacteria's.
No alcohol, smoking or any form of tobacco.
You can have protein shake smoothies.
Drink one glass of ice cold milk in morning(neutralize acid).
Avoid spicy food and eating at restraunt rather cook your own food.
Take apple cider vinegar with one glass of XXXXXXX warm water.
Try to eat VEGAN diet of a month or two to detoxify your body.(This concept is not there in English medicine but is there in ayurvedic medicine).
Eat lots of curd.
Don't go to bed just after eating keep a 2 hour gap.
Do exercises resistance training or cardio atleast 5 days a week.
Take probiotic Econorm once daily regularly it help the body to fight colonies of bad bacteria's by boosting up colonies of good ones.

Take home message-
Both LPR and SIBO are different conditions so pattern of treatment would be different along with SIBO start medication of LPR also.

Hope i was helpful,
Follow ups are welcome,
I would be happy to provide you with more information,
Regards!
