Question: Hi, I am a 26 years old male, and I was diagnozed with Chronic Prostatitis, and i have some very annoying symptoms, I was prescriebed with Ciprofloxocin for 6 weeks every 12 hours, back in november 2019, I took 6 weeks and I had an improvement in my symptoms but I felt it wasn't completely gone, the best improvements I felt after week 4.
So the problem is I still have some symptoms like some kind of pain in my pelvic area and sometimes in my penis, the symptoms nearly dissapears after I have sexual intercourse, but come back after 1 day, and I really want to get rid of this infection.
I can say I feel about 30-35% better than before taking ciprofloxacin back in november, but not comletely cured, also before taking ciprofloxacin my semen was yeloow, and now is normal white.
Do you think if I take another 6 weeks of ciprofloxacin I could be cured?
Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Consult qualified Urologist

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for query.
Based on the facts that you have posted you seem to have been diagnosed to have Chronic Prostatitis and have taken Ciprofloxacin for 6 weeks but have recurrence of the symptoms.

At the outset I would like to state that Chronic Prostatitis is very notorious infection which takes long time to get cured and has tendency to recurrence

I would suggest you to consult qualified Urologist for clinical and digital rectal examination (DRE) and send the sample of urethral discharge collected after (DRE)
for culture. This will help to trace out precise organisms causing the infection so that you can take appropriate antibiotics as per culture report .

Thanks and Regards
Dr Patil
