Question: Hi

I AM 48 Years old Male.

Since last 4 days I have developed water accumulation in my abdomen (Asceitis).

My LFT and KFT reports are normal except that my albumin is low i.e. 3.

I have read on the internet that in case of Aceitis it is the 3rd stage of sorosis of liver and Life expectancy in such a case is only one year.

If I completely stop taking alcohal and lead a healthy life stile can I have a complete life or will it still be short ?

Thank you for your query.
I understand your concern.

Looks like you have cirrhosis of liver from alcohol consumption related liver disease. If this is true following things are extremely important.

Stop alcohol at any cost. If alcohol is caused by your serious liver illness then continuing alcohol intake with completely damage your existing liver functions and will shorted your life expectancy to few months also.

If you stop alcohol totally and have good food protein rich, salt restricted as instructed by your doctor, take your medicine regularly... Follow up with your doctor as adviced, then there is still a chance that your liver functions may improve partially letting you extend your life span and improving quality of life some times completely normal life pattern too.
