Question: Hi Dr. I have upper abdominal pain and have been diagnose with gastritis and have been to the ER 3 times. Have Nausea, pain when I have a bowel movement and unexplained weight loss 7 lbs in the last week, no appetite. And one side of my upper abdomen is larger then my other side. Blood work is pretty much normal besides leukocytes being slightly elevated and platelets being slightly elevated. Have not had a ct scan or X-ray. Doctors also thought I might be constipated and gave me magnesium citrate which cause me to have watery bowel movement and cause my pain be more intense and constant and cause me to have pain lower abdominal pain which is constant and get worse when I eat. Please help.

Brief Answer:
Colonoscopy needs to be done.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor service.
I read your query and here is my advice.

I think you need further evaluation.
According to your symptoms and also the fact that your leucocytes are high these may be related to inflammatory bowel disease. Anyway a colonoscopy needs to be done to see the conditions of your bowel.
The treatment depends on the diagnosis.
Meanwhile you can take buscopan for abdominal pain.

Hope I have answered the question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
