Hi Doctor, My Daughter Has Heavy Running Nose And Breathing
Question: Hi Doctor,
My daughter has heavy Running nose and breathing through the mouth and snoring due to nasal blockage. We have consulted ENT and he suggested Surgery for Adenoids and Tonsils.
I am attaching latest x-ray which we have taken yesterday. So can you please suggest should we go for surgery?
If yes do we need surgery for both Adenoids and Tonsils. Please Suggest us.

Hii. Your baby is having obstructive sleep apnoea and allergic rhinitis due to enlarged adenoids. In the X ray adenoid is Grade III,almost blocking the posterior openingof nasal cavity. She can't breathe through the nose.That's why your baby is having snoring, mouth breathing and running nose.Adenoid I the lymphoid organ responsible for immunity of the body but it decreases in size and disappears with increasing age. But if it is acting as a source of infection and blocking the nose then it is better to start nasal steroid spray. But you have used spray for long time but no effect is there in your case. So it is better to remove it by surgery else there is will be infection the nose,difficulty in hearing problem,improper dental arrangement of nose. Same goes for tonsils also. Pleasereviewif any queries.

I appreciated the detailed answer but i would like to know one more thing that, Is it mandatory to remove Tonsils with the adenoids? Doctor has told us both has to be removed.
