Question: Hello doctor,

My son is 18 months old now, since 2-3 weeks he is not eating properly. He eats very little or almost nothing, no matter how much we force feed him. He is just having milk or fruit juices. Solid food he doesnt want to have.

Please let us know what needs to be done.

Thanks,

Brief Answer:
He seems to be fussy

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to Ask A Doctor service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

This seems to be just a behavior problem and doesn't seem to have an underlying medical issue. He must be having a lot of milk and juices. Kindly avoid the juices and he will start eating solid foods. Milk also to be offered after solid food. Add some full cream to the milk before sleep and he will wake up hungry. That time you can start solid foods. Solid foods will look similar to adult foods in your home.

With babies and young children we have to follow a rule:
We decide the food to offer and babies decide how much to eat.

Hope this helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.
