What Does A Small Bump On The Top Right Side Of My Uvula Look Like?

default
Posted on Wed, 22 Aug 2018
Question: Hello! I noticed five days ago that there is a small bump on the top right side of my uvula. I have a magnifying mirror and regularly check my mouth, so I know that it was not there before. I just recovered from type A influenza which I had a few weeks ago, and I feel now that I may be coming downwith a cold. I'm attaching an image, and when looking at the image the bump is on the top left side of the uvula, it is right near the whitish ring, which was a reflection of the mirror when I was taking the picture. I have never smoked or used tobacco, and there is no pain in the area. I am simply having some post nasal sinus drip and feel as though I may have a cold. Does this bump look to be anything to be concerned about? Thank you!!

Brief Answer:
Please provide more details.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for the query.

I have viewed the image and it does not look anything serious.

It just looks like either slight inflammation or inflamed gland.

Either cases resolve in a few days.

Can you please tell that is there pain spontaneously or while swallowing?

Do you smoke?

Any continuous irritation in that area?

Please revert back with answers.

Regards.

Hi Dr. Honey! I'm so glad that's you answered my question....you are wonderful and you've helped me so much on prior occasions!!

I have never smoked or used tobacco. There is absolutely no pain in the area, neither spontaneously nor on swallowing. I did have type A influenza recently and I do feel as though I have a cold or post nasal sinus drip currently.

Thank you again!!

Brief Answer:
Nothing to worry.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

You need not to worry as there is nothing serious or to be worried for.

Do warm saline gargles twice daily.

You can also do antiseptic mouthwash gargles.

It will get better soon.

Hope this helps.

Take care.
