Question: Hello I have a question I used a vaginal health kit this weekend. I used two tests the first was a swab from inside my vagina and the second took a swab from the external vagina area (labia). The internal test came back negative but the external swab was positive. Not sure which is correct.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,
Thanks for trusting us about your health care.
I have gone through your history and understand your concerns.
Your self assessment vaginal swab is used for detection of bacterial vaginosis and other vaginal infection.
Before giving my opinion regarding your test results I want to ask few questions.
Are you having any symptoms like itching, redness and vaginal discharge?
Are you sexually active?
Any unprotected sex ?
Hope to hear from you soon.
Good luck

Hi there
There's no redness. I haven't been having any itching that seems out of the ordinary or excessive. I do have more discharge (looks to be clearish) but it doesn't have an odor. I am currently not sexually active. It was just confusing to me why using the ph swab in the outside area would give a positive result if my vaginal secretions in side resulted in a negative result. All that I have research says to do the swab inside the vagina, but it doesn't give a reason as to why you cant swab the external vaginal area.

Thank you for your help XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Almost no chance of infection

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,
Sorry for the delay in my response.
Thanks for the information
As you are not having any vaginal symptoms, you are not having vaginitis that is why your internal swab is negative, external swab is positive due to external contamination. That is why we considered internal swab results.
Hope found useful.
Good luck
