Question: Hello, I am 27 years old and have started missing periods while on I was on birth control. I haven’t had a period in the last twoish months and then I completely stopped taking the pill altogether about 3 weeks ago and it still hasn’t come. Since stopping I’ve noticed bloating and cramping and sore nipples. I have taken 3 pregnancy tests over the last few months and all have been negative.

Hi,
Welcome to ' Ask a Doctor'. I am Dr Ramadevi Wani. I will be answering your concerns today.

I have read your notes carefully. Usually after stopping pills, one gets their menses in two weeks time. Please do a blood pregnancy test. It is more accurate than urine pregnancy test. If that is negative consult your gynecologist. You would need a ultrasound and some hormone tests. Based on those results treatment can be planned.
Best wishes,

Hi
Welcome back.
Yes I did follow what you have written. While on pills it is okay to miss menses for one month. But you should have got your cycle after the next pill pack. That is why I have advised as above.

Best wishes.

My period stopped prior to stopping the pills. It did not come as expected for the last two cycles. I was on lo Loestrin fe. I ran out of pills after I did not get it at the end of the last pack which was about three weeks ago.
