Hello!

Welcome to 'Ask A Doctor' service!

I passed carefully through your question and would explain that your symptoms are not suggestive of any serious cardiac issues.

You should know that the feeling of heartbeat is quite normal in tall and slim persons, or in sportspersons.

On the other hand, some palpitations ( also called ectopic heartbeats) are quite normal in every healthy person during physical exercise or anxiety ( emotional stress).

Considering your performed cardiac tests, I would like to reassure you that your symptoms are not indicative of any serious cardiac issues.

Anyway, if these complaints are persistent, I would recommend performing a cardiac MRI, which is the best tool to examine the athletic heart and thus completely exclude any cardiac issues.

I hope you will find this answer helpful!

I remain at your disposal for any further questions whenever you need it!

Kind regards,

Dr.Ilir Sharka,
Cardiologist

Hello again!

As you don't have any palpitations, this is very reassuring that nothing serious is going on!

This heart rate, is within normal ranges, and there is no reason to panic about it!

From the other hand, sport persons have a lower mean heart rate, compared to other persons.

Low heart rate and high blood pressure can coexist. For this reason, I would recommend you to check your blood pressure values. It is very simple with an automatic machine.

Anyway, I think that the feeling of heartbeat is just related to your physical constitution and there is no reason for additional tests.

Hope you will find this answer helpful!

Let me know about anything!

Wishing all the best,

Dr.Iliri

Detailed Answer:
Hello again!

Thank you for the additional information!

Your blood pressure values are excellent!

Yes, anxiety can trigger this situation.
I recommend taking 5mg of Melatonin at bedtime to help with sleep. You can increase the dose up to 10mg if the effects are not the best.

This is a natural hormone, produced by our body to help with a normal sleep wake cycle.

A regular sleep will help against anxiety too!

Hope you will find this answer helpful!

I would recommend as follows:

Detailed Answer:
Hello again!

You can take up to 600mg of valerian at bedtime.

So, it is OK to take four tablets of such supplement before sleep.

Anyway, I would recommend increasing the dose gradually, in order to try to adjust the right dose based on your body tolerance.

So, you can try taking two tablets tonight, and then increase the dose to three tablets if this is not enough the next evening and so on by one tablet every evening up to four tablets and see if it helps.

Hope you will find this answer helpful!

Hello again!

Both these drugs increase sedation. For this reason, it is necessary avoiding using maximal doses when taking them concomitantly.

Yes, tonight 200mg of valerian and 2mg of melatonin and see how it goes!

I hope you will need a low dose to help with sleep.

Hope you will find this answer helpful!

Let me know in case of any other uncertainties!
