Question: Hello Doctor,

Hope you are doing good. Looking for your consultation for my mother who is 62 years old.

She has been diabetic for 15 years and taking medicines . Last year her blood sugar levels was 145 (Fasting) , 190 (after food & Tablet) and Hba1C (5.4%) . She has been taking Galvus Met 50mg/500mg before meal in the morning. Her last week blood report shows blood sugar levels are 169 (fasting) and 276 (after food) in which test was taken without intake of tablet on that that particular day.

As she has severe shoulder pain , last time doctor prescribed Shelcal & Centum for the Calcium & Vitamin. Please note that everytime she takes medicine after meal on the day of blood test , this time it was taken without intake of tablet.

Can you please suggest the alteration in the dose because of her increased blood sugar level .

Brief Answer:
About high blood sugar;

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for asking! I have gone carefully through your concern.
She needs to increase the dose if levothyroxine (2x1000 mg after meals) if the renal and liver function is normal. Si she needs do take separate tablets of galvus and metformine.
Metformine works in people who have abdominal fat, i do not know if it is her case. A clinical examination eould be of help.
Hope the information will help.
Best wishes.
